Canterbury Dreams
Both Canterbury Dreams and Dreams Within are focused on educating
consumers on independence. A transition program is in place to assist
the consumer in planning and preparing for being successful in
supported living if they so choose. Both homes operate as a group home
with a supportive living feel, allowing the consumers to make choices
and take ownership of their lives. Both homes also offer assistance
with home management tasks and activities of daily living as needed.
Trained staff assist in educating consumers on topics such as
budgeting, self-advocacy, home management, community safety, personal
hygiene and social interaction. Consumer's medical needs are monitored
by one of the owners, a Registered Nurse with 17 years experience, who
is an APD approved Medication Administration Trainer.
Canterbury Dreams:
All male home, centrally located in Pinellas County, close to a bus
line for transportation. An adult education center is within walking
distance for those wanting to participate. A basketball goal is at the
house for recreational activities as well as a stationary bike for
exercise. Weekends provide activities such as shopping, the movies,
bowling or attending local events.
Dreams Within:
All female home within walking distance to Downtown Safety Harbor which
offers a small town environment and a multitude of community events. We
have an active social calendar and frequent arts and crafts activities.
Frequent trips Downtown are offered to visit the Marina, the Park,
watch a Little League game, stop at Starbucks or take an art class at
the recreation center. Weekends are spent in the community, at the
movies, shopping, or attending a local event. During a recent Delmarva
survey, we received 6 out of 7 grades of "Achieving".
